Measurement 2

Measurement 2

Miss Habizah Sheikh Ilmi is the lecturer of this subject for us in our semester 2. Basically, this subject is for us to learn the principles, purpose and function of Standard Method of Measurement (SMM2) including measurement principles, descriptions and standard phraseology. The topics that our lecturer has covered are the measurement of brickwork of
internal and external walls, timber floors and stud partitions, staircase structure and staircase balustradings; floor, wall, ceiling and staircase finishes including painting.

During her lecture, she has taught us how to take-off quantities from drawings, how to produce measurement, and how to competently carry out the preparation of the Bills of Quantities for brickworks, stud partitions, staircase structure, staircase finishes and balustrading, floor, wall and ceiling finishes and precast concrete piling. Also, she always remind us don't be surprise that measurement 2 is more difficult than measurement 1, and the description for the elements in measurement 2 is way longer than the description for elements in measurement 1. In order to take measurement 3 next semester, I should work more harder, so that I can pass my measurement 2 and continue my degree with measurement 3.

For the group assignment of this subject, we are asked to form a group of 5 members in a group. For my group, we need to produce measurement for internal and external walls, internal and external walls finishes, internal and external floor finishes, and internal and external ceiling finishes of the corner lot of a terrace house. I am measuring the external wall finishes and the ceiling finishes in this group assignment. From this group assignment, I am not only gained a lot of knowledge but I also realised the importance of teamwork, I can't finish the group assignment without my group member.
